The bus service that's right up your street!
igo 89 is a new service that replaces the current Taxibus operation from 5th September 2016.
The Taxibus contract finishes on 3rd September. Various options were considered to provide a vital link to the area, which meets the needs of the majority of existing customers and is also attractive to new users, whilst making the service better value for money and therefore more sustainable.
Pick up points in roaming zones
igo 89 is a scheduled bus service that will operate Monday to Friday from Solihull Town Centre (including Solihull Hospital) to Coventry via Berkswell and Heart of England School.
It has the facility to roam up to 3 miles in the Meriden and Balsall Common areas to serve various locations.
Passengers living in Meriden and Balsall Common call to request the service - approximate arrival times for those areas are shown on the back page. Bookings can be made up to 7 days in advance or as little as 2 hours before departure time on the day of travel.
To book a journey, call 0121 782 9322 - don’t worry, Betty is still on hand to deal with your booking and any queries you may have.
As this is a scheduled bus route, any new users no longer need to register to use the service.
Brand new bus - more seats, more room!
A brand new, low floor bus will be used on the service. It’s fully accessible and has 32 seats - more than the current Taxibus vehicles. It’s also fitted with free wi-fi and has a tracker fitted so we know exactly where the bus is.
If you don't live in a roaming zone
Passengers living in non-roaming zones can catch the service at normal bus stops by making a clear signal to the driver.
Fares and passes
National Concessionary passes are accepted on the service after 9:30am with both network and bus passes accepted free of charge.
A flat rate of £2.30 applies for cash payers with a special roaming fare of £2 for journeys made within Balsall Common and Meriden. Half fare applies for children or students with a 16-18 ID card.
